“Smile at each other, smile at your wife, smile at your husband, smile at your children, smile at each other - it doesn't matter who it is - and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.” - Mother Teresa
Today marks 6 months since our little man walked off that plane, into our home, and forever changed our lives. So much has changed in the past months… Anthony has grown so much, is so much more active, and talking more and more everyday! When we are driving around, he points to different objects we see and either says, “Eh!” when he doesn’t know the name for the objects or “duht” for “Truck”. He also says “baby”, “Fwower” (flower), and “Booh” (Book), just to name a few. The funniest thing is when he says “Please”. Anthony has been saying “Thank-NNNN” (Thank you) for quite some time now, so we have been trying to teach to say “Please”. Well, let’s just say the combination of P and L together is quite a feat for a little guy to try. The first time he tried saying it, he scrunched his face all up like he was “takin’ care of his buisiness”… the he clenched his fist and tried so hard to get the PL sound out… but alas all that came out was this VERY loud “KKKKKKKK” sound! It literally sounded like a garbled radio! We fell on the floor laughing! Too Funny! Well, he has received so much reinforcement for saying “please” that way, he just keeps doing it. This morning, his teacher asked what the “KKKK” sounds meant… I had to laugh and tell her it was how he said “Please”! She laughed so hard she turned blue!
We have also progressed with our night-time routine. For a long time, after Anthony came home, we would either rock him or hold him until he fell asleep on one of us. Sometimes this was easier than others… but we did it! Then we would put him into his crib for the night. Anthony is such a big boy now! When it’s time to go to bed, I tell him to say “Nite Nite to Daddy” and he walks over, gives his Daddy a kiss, and says “Bye Bye”. He then walks up the steps to his room, stops half way and says “Lo-Lu” (love you) and blows kisses! More cuteness! We go into his room turn on his lullabies and lay him into the crib… he grabs his teddy bear, waves to me, and says “Bye Bye”. It warms my heart each night!!!!
He has also become VERY attached to his “Teddy” and this little green blanket we keep in his room. It is the cutest thing, when he wakes up in the morning… he carries his teddy and blanket everywhere. The only problem is that he can’t bring them to school, so each morning we lay “Teddy” in Anthony’s crib and tuck him in with the green blanket. Then Anthony waves to him, says “Bye Bye”, and blows his teddy a kiss! UGH! I can’t get enough of the cuteness!
I could go on and on with the “Mommy-brags”… everyday there something new…
Here are some pics from the past few weeks.
