The Miracle of Christmas

Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveler, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side and his quiet home! ~Charles Dickens, The Pickwick Papers, 1836

Christmas is upon us and what a happy time…and as 2008 comes to a close it certainly was a year of ups and downs, gains and losses, happiness and sorrow…

We as a family have been truly blessed . . . with our own miracle this Christmas season, our own son, our own blessing that brings joy and happiness to our whole family. Anthony Le brings to us the best of the holiday seasons . . . the true belief and idea that this is the season of new beginnings and opportunities. That life, family and relationships are to be cherished and embraced because that is what is important…everything else is secondary.

As we look at the past year…it could only be described as a journey (both figuratively and literally). A journey that has changed our lives and family forever…a journey that led us to a our son. Now our journey to our son did not end up in a manger in Bethlehem…but to a place called Binh-Duong, Vietnam and our own miracle through adoption. Where Jesus saved us all, Anthony saved our family . . . a true angel that has provided a light of happiness and hope in our hearts….

Like everyone else, we get caught up in the craziness of the season…shopping…running around…going nuts…etc…. But as this holiday season approaches…we can not forget that there are many less fortunate then us both in our country and throughout the world. It is difficult to escape the memory and fact that there are many children in Vietnam and the world that have not been joined with their forever families and will have to wait another year before maybe experiencing the miracle of Christmas as we are. We need to keep those children and families in our prayers, and as we enjoy our holidays, keep in our minds and thoughts those less fortunate and especially those children waiting for their families….

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! - Keep the Christmas spirit alive…And as you shop, cook, bake and do all of the other family things…remember what it is all really about…I think Dr. Seuss sums it up best…

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. ~Dr. Seuss
