And the Preparations Continue...

This weekend Anthony and I purchased a new Swingset for our little man! We are so excited and cannot wait for him to come home and see it! He's gonna have so much fun learning to climb the "rock wall", riding down the sliding board, and swinging on the swings (of course ALL with a little help from Mommy & Daddy)! It'll also be nice to have some stuff for our "niece" and "nephews" to do outside when they come over... right now Unle Tony and Aunt Becki's is the BORING HOUSE!!!! HA! Now, this is not the actual set we purchased, just a photo borrowed from the manufacturer's website as ours hasn't been installed yet. How I wish our back yard really looked like that though! Our ACTUAL backyard looks so barren right now, so we can't wait until the new swingset gets here to help spruce up the joint! Anthony and I have BIG plans for the backyard this year, so stay tuned for more updates! lol!

OK so, what's new???: We are STILL waiting for get Travel Approval from USCIS so we do not have any idea when we will be travelling to get little Anthony. We are hoping to hear something any day now. We are waiting by the phone for "The Call" and our proverbial "hospital bags" are packed and waiting by the door! We are just waiting for my stinkin' "water to break" and unfortunately with Adoption there is no way to induce the labor! LOL! We just have to wait and keep ourselves busy. It's funny, when couples are at the end of pregnancy, you hear a lot of folks telling them, "go walk around the mall, that get that baby movin'"! Well, I have to say, I think there is more to that philosophy than you think... we have found ourselves doing anything we can to keep ourselves busy, trying to refocus our attention in hopes that time will fly by faster and we will "get that baby moving"~ including walking aroung the mall! HA!

So, what's the hold up???: This is a question that Anthony and I have been getting a lot in the past month or so. Many of you have been seeing the news and learning of the recent developments with regard to Vietnam Adoptions. We had been hoping to aviod such a discussion, but it is becoming more evident each day that you guys are growing more concerned about our situation. So, Anthony and I wanted to try to educate and put some of your fears to rest.

There is a lot of information out there so, in an effort to be as concise as possible I will try to keep it simple. The Vietnamese Government agreed to resume International Adoptions with the US in 2006 after being closed to US Adoptive Families since 2003. The US and Vietnam made an agreement, referred to as the MOU, which dictates the guidelines by which Adoptions in Vietnam would be governed. This agreement was temporary and is set to expire September 1, 2008. Without the MOU Agreement, Vietnamese Adoptions with the United States cannot continue. The two countries are trying to negotiate an agreement, but negotiations have been very difficult. In the process of the negotiations, there have been process changes in the Adoption Program. These changes were implemented in an effort to increase the transparency of Adoptions to protect all of the parties involved- Birth Families, Children, and Prospective Adoptive Parents. Because of these changes, we are waiting a little longer than usual time-frames to bring our son home. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to move the process along. We are eager to meet our new son and continue to ask for your prayers during this time.
