"And then, the unspeakable purity and freshness of the air! There was just enough heat to enhance the value of the breeze, and just enough wind to keep the whole sea in motion, to make the waves come bounding to the shore, foaming and sparkling, as if wild with glee."
-Anne Bronte (English Novelist 1820-1849)Goin' down'ashore (for those of you not from the Jersey area- this is how it's pronounced! LOL!) has been part of the fabric of my husband's family since before he was born. He is always telling stories full of fond Jersey Shore memories with his Mom and Nanna, as well as his Mom-Mom and Pop Pop. When I joined the family, the shore was something he was very eager to share with me and it quickly became part of our family as well. During the summer, we spend a lot time relaxing on the beach and strolling on the Boardwalk... not to mention going out crabbing on our families boat. Summer weekends down'ashore are just a few of the priceless gifts we wanted to give to our son. We are blessed to be able to share the peace and tranquility which the ocean offers and the family tradition it represents to us.
This weekend we were able to take some time and enjoy a few days of sun and relaxation with our family at the Good ol' Jersey Shore. Little Anthony had a blast playing in the ocean and digging in the sand with his cousins and Uncle Mike! A great time was had by all! We also discovered that our son's absolute favorite ride on the entire Boardwalk is the Merry-Go-Round! He tried going on it last time we went down and really seemed to like it... but this time, as soon as he saw it... he started signing "More" over and over again! I thought his little fingers were gonna fall right off! He was so excited... so precious! He isn't so sure about the other rides quite yet... he seemed to like the boat ride, but wasn't too keen on the Firetrucks or the Car rides... not too sure what that was about... they are basically the same type of "go around in a cirle rides" ;-} Momma, Daddy, Grammy Sue, and Pop Pop Bob had a great time watchin' little Anthony have so much fun! It is amazing how quickly we begin reliving our own childhood through the eyes of our children... everything becomes wonderous once again! Here are some pictures of our weekend....

OK I must admit I was in a grumpy mood this morning thinking about all the things I have to do at work before I leave for Texas next week.
But, now...I am smiling and my heart is warmed. Great pictures!!
Thanks for sharing.
Love all the pics. I lived in Sandy Hook (Highlands) NJ for 2 years in the late 90s. Love the Jersey Shore!
Looks like you all had a great time.
One of our favorite authors! :-)
I feel bad, it's the first time in 11 years that we missed Holt Day at the pier!
Lil Anthony is so handsome! It looks like he was a perfect fit!!
