Our family hosted a small family celebration to commemorate the Anniversary of our son's homecoming! It is hard to believe it has been a year already and even more amazing is to see how much he has grown in the past 12 months. It warms our heart to see him grow closer and closer to us each day...the small things I never realized he didn't do, like curling up on the sofa with Mommy and doggie to watch his favorite movie, picking dandelions and bringing them to Mommy, copy-catting just about everything Daddy does because he wants to be just like him, bringing EVERYTHING he does to us so we can tell him he has done a great job, seeking out our approval for even the smallest success!!!!
Anthony is truly an amazing kid! Our family has forever been changed by his presence in our lives and we are truly thankful for the gift of his love. He is the strongest, bravest person we know. In the last year, he lost everything, yet gained everything...he grieved, we grieved together. He learned these strangers who looked different, smelled different, and sounded funny weren't so terrible after all. And through all of this change he learned to love us...love us as his parents. He has never failed to be happy, even when he was scared...even when we were scared.
The most beautiful sound I have ever heard in my life.... "I yah you, Mommy!"
In a few months we will re-adopt Anthony and finalize his Adoption in New Jersey. At that time, his name will legally be change from Long Van Le, to Anthony Le DePrince IV. Our "adoption path" will have been completed and our "family path" will continue on. We are overjoyed to be parents to such an angel and could never have expected in our wildest dreams we could be this lucky. People tell us all the time how "special" we are because we are because we adopted him and "saved" him... I beg to differ. He is the "special" one...he "saved" us....he made us a family.....
