Hey folks! It's been about a month since our last post, so here is the lastest and greatest! Anthony and I got some really HUGE news this week! Here is the story...
What has happened??? We were waiting for 2 approvals from Vietnam: DOJ Approval, which is on the provicial (or state) level, and also the People's Committee, which is sort of like the County level, to review and approve our paperwork. We received word from Holt on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, notifying us that ALL of our approvals have been completed, on the Vietnam-side of our application. Both approvals came back within the last week and we have received the ok, from Vietnam ,to adopt our son! WOOO HOOO!
What is next???? We are waiting for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, or USCIS, to process our "Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative", or I-600. This document is the initial step required for Anthony to enter into the US. We are hoping this process should be completed by end of April 2008, but we are not excatly sure when we will be hearing from them regarding our status. This part of the process is new and very unpredicatable at this point, so we are asking for lots of prayers for quick processing and "smooth sailing" as we are unable to travel until we have completed this step.
OK....So, what does all this mean??? Once we receive word from USCIS that our I-600 has been approved, we will notifiy our agency. Holt will then contact Anthony's Ophanage and schedule our "Giving & Receiving Ceremony", which is the official process whereby Anthony will become our son. Once we have a date for our "Giving & Receiving Ceremony", we will receive "Travel Approval", or TA, and schedule our flights to Vietnam accordingly! ;-) Typically families leave within two to three weeks after obtaining TA.
What do we need??? As you are all well aware, with International Adoption- nothing is ever written in stone and things are always evolving and changing... we are asking for prayers and good ol' fashioned Luck o' the Irish to help us get through these next few weeks... thank you all!
Stay tuned for more of our advenutres.... there's plenty more to come!
